Social Events

The AGM week will give delegates and guests the opportunity to meet both formally and socially. Through the social events, you will get to know aspects of Norwegian culture and history.

Tuesday, 20 October. Kopinor invites you to a reception and guided tour at the new Opera House. The house was opened in 2008 and has quickly become a landmark in the Oslo harbour area.

The Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta won the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture (Mies van der Rohe Award) 2009 for designing the Opera House.

Wednesday, 21 October. The Mayor of Oslo has invited all delegates to a reception at the City Hall of Oslo. The city hall is situated close to the harbour. It was opened in 1950, decorated by the foremost Norwegian artists from the period 1900-1950 with motifs from Norwegian history, culture and working life.

The Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony takes place in the Oslo City Hall, each year on 10 December.

Thursday, 22 October. The AGM Gala Dinner will take place at the restaurant Gamle Logen. The building ("Old Lodge") was originally built as a Masonic lodge and a banquet and concert hall in 1836. Gamle Logen has played a major role in the development of Norway´s cultural life. Norwegian artists of both national and international fame have performed here.

Gamle Logen underwent a complete restoration and reopened in 1988, and it is now a centre for cultural events, concerts, conferences, balls and banquets.

Monday Kopinor hosted an international seminar titled Human Rights, Authors’ Rights and Publishers’ Rights. The seminar was chaired by Prof. Helge Rønning, who is also chair of the Kopinor Board.

The detailed program for the Regional seminar and Digital Issues Forum on Wednesday is now published. The title of the conference is: Providing Access to Content in a Changing Environment.

For delegates who are staying Friday in Oslo, we have a special offer. Kopinor has reserved tickets to the dance performance When Clarity Visits in the Opera house. This World premiere is a part of the Oslo International Dance Festival.

On Monday, 19 October, Kopinor will host an international seminar in Oslo. The seminar will be held at The House of Literature, Oslo's vibrant and exciting meeting place for culture and debate.

- IFRRO celebrates its 25 years anniversary this year. The event will also mark the AGM 2009 among other things with a special session dedicated to IFRRO, its history and future perspectives of enabling access.

With these words, the President of IFRRO, Magdalena Vinent, and Olav Stokkmo, Chief Executive, invites the IFRRO community to the AGM in Oslo.
